Early start from our Melboune Hotel, for our taxi to the airport. We woke to a cloudy overcast morming. By the time we were boarding the plane it was pouring down with rain.
By the time we landed in Cairns the sun was out and we were back in the 30's.
After a slight delay at Cairns airport, waiting for our shuttle bus to Port Douglas, 60km (just over 40 miles), we arrived at Port Douglas late aftrnoon.
After dropping our bags in our apartments, we had a drink in the bar while Dorothy tried the swimming pool. Pat and Liz then had a bite to eat in the bar, while Bob walked down into Port Douglas. The map that the hotel gave Bob was not to scale, so the 10min walk into town actually took Bob 45mins.
As we are in the rain forest area, there were lots of Mango trees and large fruit bats, both roosting and a few flying around, while walking into town.
Lots of restraurnt and shops in town, as you would expect. Bob pick up a few supplies and got a taxi back to the apartments.
