We had a lazy start to the day. Did some washing in the local laundrette which dried ok on the balcony.
Bob had a swim in the "Lane" swimming pool, which is next to a small gym.
The four of us then caught the shuttle bus into Port Douglas. We picked up a few bits and bobs before having a light lunch in a corner cafe.
As it was a hot day, around 31°C, we walked down towards the sea front, and stopped for a while in a small park next to the sea front.
Lots of interesting trees, some huge, like the one above. And some with strange looking rooting systems, like the fig tree below
Palm trees
I found a coconut under one of these trees. You can see how big it is between my flip flops (or thongs as flip flops are called out here).
Now I have it, I don't know what to do with it. As it has a very though thick shell and I only have my small Swiss arm knife.
Island Point Lighthouse, Port Douglas. Inactive since 1997.
You need to watch out for jelly fish, as you can see from the sign below. The cylindrical holder below the sign has a bottle of vinegar in it, to be used on jelly fish stings.
