Our flight to San Francisco is only at 19:45. But there is a bus strike in Aukland today, everyone is expecting the traffic in and around town to be horrendous. So we plan to leave our hotel around14:00. Which still gives us a few hours to look around Auckland.
We are just a block or so away from the Sky Tower in the centre of Auckland.
Pat and I slowly walked down to the harbour, while Liz and Dorothy went off to explore.
Various boats moving around on the wharf
The nearby square was holding a free open air concert, Pat and I watched them for a while, as we relaxed with a coffee.
Auckland airport, our plane a Boeing 777-300ER (extended range) being got ready.
Air New Zealand are showing their support for the making of the film, The Hobbit.
Pat had the use of a wheel chair in the airport whre we met up with Shannon, who was on the same flight. As Pat was in a wheel chair, we (Pat and I) were put on the plane first. We had Premium Economy seats, which gave us more room in bigger better seats. Unfortunately none of these seats were availabke when Dorothy booked her flight, so she sat in Economy.
We were then set for our 11hr flight.
