Heaphy Track Day 5 - 15 Feb Monday

As we need to be at the Kohiahia car park at 13:00hrs for our coach pick up. We agreed to leave HEAPHY HUT at 7:00. Again most of the group left earlier, around 6:45. We: Wendy, Tom, Sue and I left at 7:00.

Tramping early

It is almost like the Tropics with the number of palm trees on the trail.

Crossing Wakakura Creek.

Then back next to the Tasman sea, along Nettle beach

Then arrived at KATIPO CREEK SHELTER for a break

 Back into the Tropical forest

 Then looking back on the beach.

Finally cross the Kohaihai river to reach the end of the track.

Great effort by everyone. A fantastic adventure for the last 5 days, everyone had a great time.

 We then had a 6hr drive back to the YHA in Nelson, with a 30min break in Westport, for a drink and a bite to eat. When we got back to the YHA we had a quick shower and a change of cloaths, before going out for a celebrationary meal and a drink or two (the first for 5 days).

Next morning most people were leaving on the 8:00hr bus.
