Today is another short tramp. So Wendy, Tom and I took the rangers advice, to go to the top of Three Points at 909m. The ranger explained that it was not a very well defined track and we would have to push our way through the brush. She (the ranger) was not joking when she said we would have to push our way through the brush. I think Shannon was very wise not joining us today.

Tom wrote on his Facebook:
"Day 3 on the Heaphy Track brought a jungle scramble, a mountain walk, and more plains walking. It was another shorter day so 3 of us took the ranger's advice and took a trail to 3 Point behind our hut. It was very overgrown and it took us 45 minutes to climb 1/2 mile. At the top we were rewarded with terrific views. On the regular trail, there were more ups and downs through the Savannah until we reached our new home, Mackay Hut. It was perched high and from there we could see the Tasman Sea. The only downside - I was awake much of the night being itchy from sand fly bites. They got bad as we neared the coast."
