Heaphy Track Day 2 - 12 Feb Friday

As we only have a short tramp to SAXON HUT today, Wendy, Shannon, Tom and I went off the Heathy track, and followed a track up to the top of Mt Perry at 1238m.

Tom wrote on his Facebook:
"Day 2 on the Heaphy Track. After climbing 5400 feet on day 1, we left the jungle behind. We had a shorter day so some of us started out by climbing a side trail up to the top of Mount Perry for some great views. Then we hiked 9 miles through beech trees and tussocks called Gouland Downs."
I think Tom exaggerated when he quotes 5,400ft, I believe it was around 785m = 2,870ft. I hope he doesn't show the same imagination with his vet bills.

Four little dots going up Mt Perry  (1,238m) were, Wendy, Shannon, Tom and Bob

Dots still heading up Mt Perry.

You can see PERRY SADDLE HUT as we decend  Mt Perry
Then we are on our tramp again

More great views as we cross the Gouland plain

Another crossing. This time on a more substantial bridge
