Hokitika 7 Feb - Sunday

It was a overcast cool morning, around 16°C, when we left Fox Glacier this morning for a 157km drive to Hokitika, but was a sunny 25°C by the time we got there.

We retraced our steps of yesterday, to Franz Josef, then carried on passing Lake Mapourika below.
We carried on North along the Western Coast, slightly in land, following the Southern Alps. Our morning break was in Harihari.
We carried on along route 6 passed Wanganui river.

Keeping the Southern Alps on our right.
until we arrived in Hokitika.
The view of the Tasman Sea from our balcony is superb.
Looking down the coast, it's even better.
Below is the view of the Southern Alps from our hotel.
We had an afternoon coffee in a cafe that sells Manuka Honey. As Pat loves this honey and Hokitika iIs an area were it is produced, below are details of Manuka Honey.
View from the Quay, looking back up ghe Hokitika River, where the main road crosses the river.
Pat and I went to watch the Auckland NFL rugby league 9's on TV in a local pub, while Liz put her feet up and Dorothy went for a swim in the local swimming pool.
We all then met up for our evening meal in a local pub " Stumpers", then we finished the night of on our balcony enjoying some local wine.
Sunset from our balcony.
