We woke to a glorious sunny morning, 25°C. Then had a full breakfast before we left the hotel in Twizel for a 131km drve to Wanaka.
Below are two views from outside our hotel in Twizel
The mountains are still a way off.
Lake Ruataniwha was a good place to have a photo taken.
You can see the clear sky over the mountains in the background.
The temperature rose to 27°C as we went over Lindis pass at 971m, this is only a few metres lower than Scafell Pike at 978m, which is the highest peak in England.
We then dropped into Wanaka.
I have heard people misprenounce Wanaka, (they miss the middle "a" for some reason).
Below is the view from Wanaka, over Lake Wanaka. You can see the Southern Alps in the centre of the photo.
The two views below from our balcony are stunning.
Today is cloudy in Wanaka, still at 22°C. Which locals are happy with, as it was a scorching 32°C yesterday.
Then a beautiful Sun set.
